Romanian Convention Bureau is a non-governmental, non-profit entity, one of the partner associations of the Tourism Ministry and of the Romanian Tourism Employers Federation. Since 1999, RCB is also member of the most important world organization in this field, The International Congress & Convention Association - ICCA.

RCB aims to make MICE professionals worldwide aware of Romania as an attractive, constant and highly cost-effective venue of world events, and to sustain this reliable image by a top-quality local offer of specific services. RCB develops either self-supported or co-financed activities (together with the Romanian Tourism Ministry and USAID/CIPE Romania) meant to permanently improve the internationally accepted professional standards in managing events on the local market. By putting together the optimized offer of its members, RCB grants Romania's advantages as a reliable and valid partner on the global events & incentive tourism market.

Romanian Convention Bureau gathers several public institutions and private companies whose activity is related to the MICE industry: congresses, conferences, seminars, specialized exhibitions, national and international fairs, festivals, destination management, business & incentive travel. The RCB members are: professional conference and exhibition organizers, tour-operators with DMC abilities, conference and exhibitions centers, hotels with reunion facilities, caterers, technical services suppliers, interpreters / advertising / public relations / IT & multimedia agencies, air carriers and rent-a-car dealers, banks and insurance companies, culture institutions.

Romanian MICE Industry Performances (more details...)

Local PCOs, DMCs and dedicated services providers either manage directly or provide specialized services for an annual average of about 800 events, of which over 100 are fairs and exhibitions and over 600 are congresses, conferences, seminars, product launches and training sessions, gathering a total of 1.200.000 - 1.500.000 participants. Basic activities and services connected to the organizing process generate a considerable turnover per year.

Romania confirmes its potential as a MICE destination, as proved by the results of RCB members' presence at the most important specialized fair, EIBTM Geneva (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002). Throughout the past years, Romania caught the attention of many international professionals and beneficiaries, hosting several important world events, such as the Annual Conference of EBRD 2002 (2200 participants) and the World Congress of the International Road Union - IRU 2002 (1500 participants).
